Introduction

This pathfinder will, I hope, be a big help to you as you search for materials to use in your paper.

While it should help with the bulk of your research, it's not exhaustive by any means, so be sure to ask if you need help finding other materials.

Dewey Call Numbers

Literary criticism makes up the bulk of the 800 section, so use the OPAC (card catalogue) to search for books in the collection, or browse the shelves. Specifically, theorical material is in the 800's, American Lit the 810-819's and British Lit the 820-829's, in alphabetical order by writer. In the online catalog, if there is a green box by the title, that means it should be in the library; however, many books have "disappeared" over the years. If it's not on the shelf, it's probably gone. We do have access to Interlibrary Loan, however, which means we can order books from anywhere in CT and they'll be delivered to you here at school.

Reference

We have a solid set of reference materials for literature, so I won't list them all here. However, the most useful sets will probably be

Poetry Criticism

These databases contain articles from several hundreds of journals, not all of them literary.  Be sure to do an ADVANCED search, and click on "full text" articles. Otherwise you'll also receive abstracts, which can be very frustrating!
