INTRODUCTION

This pathfinder provides links to images and primary sources  and articles related to the Civil War. You will need between 10 and 20 images for your VoiceThread.  Try to find a mixture of general images to illustrate your narrative, and specific images (letters/diaries, etc) to use for examples of your main points.

Working With Primary Sources

Never worked with primary sources before?  We'll talk about them a bit in class, but you can also use these links for good guidelines.

What Are Primary Sources?    Tutorial from the Library of Congress (LOC).  Basic overview, with separate sections on analyzing images, audio, etc.

Do History     This site walks you through a "history mystery" using primary sources to solve the problem.

 Documenting Your Sources

You're all good historians, so you're well aware of your responsibility to accurately acknowledge and cite your sources!   For each image you use, be sure to keep track of the citation information (I'll show you an easy form).  At the end of your VoiceThread presentation, you will need to include a slide citing your sources.  To do this, made a slide in PowerPoint of your "works cited."   Then, save it as a jpeg (in the 'format' pop-up window) and import into VoiceThread.
